Women, men and children gathered at the Depot Plaza this afternoon for the fourth annual "Walk In Her Shoes" domestic violence awareness walk. There show support came in a rather unusual way, however. Everyone participating in the walk wore a pair of high heels, including the men.
In Laramie County, one out of every four women say they are currently or have at one time been the victim of domestic violence. Assistant district attorney Leigh Anne Manlove spoke at the event saying that much of the domestic violence that goes on in the community happens behind closed doors and closed mouths and that's why its critical to have public awareness.
The event, which was sponsored by Safehouse Services, also featured a flash mob that had been traveling around town today.
