Governor Weighs in on Colorado Marijuana Amendment

Posted: Updated:

Governor Mead is now weighing in on the affects Amendment 64 in Colorado would have on Wyoming.

That amendment, known as "The Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol Act of 2012" would allow anyone age 21 or older to buy or possess limited amounts of marijuana.

It also provides for the licensing of cultivation facilities, product manufacturing facilities, testing facilities and retail stores.

The Governor says he's concerned about Wyoming residents bringing the drug into the state if the amendment passes.

"We're struggling here in Wyoming. I think most of the country is, with substance abuse issues and I worry about adding another sort of quote, "legalized", substance to that list to become more accessible to both young people and the general population," Mead said.
