The Cheyenne Animal Shelter says 30 severely neglected shih tzus were dropped off on Friday, two more than originally reported.
Over the weekend one of the dogs was euthanized. The 29 remaining are on their way to better lives thanks to the shelter and community.
The shelter and volunteers have been busy grooming and examining the dogs. Avenues Pet Clinic took in 12 of them.
Many of the dogs still need medical attention. The shelter says it's going to cost between $200 and $300 to treat some of them.
A fund has been set up specifically for the shih tzus. Checks should be made payable to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. Be sure to write "shih tzus" or "abused dogs" on the memo line.
