While many of us have begun getting ready for Christmas by pulling out the decorations, Operation Christmas Child has started collecting shoe boxes full of goodies to be shipped to millions of kids around the world.
Shoe boxes are being collected at the Evangelical Free Church located at 7006 North College Drive.
They are asking for shoe boxes filled with toys, hygiene items and non-perishable candy packed for a boy or girl between the age of 2 to 14.
The boxes will be delivered to needy children in 100 different countries.
Cassie Rigg is the site coordinator, she got involved to help set an example for her grandchildren.
"They've helped pack boxes and they see the real meaning of Christmas that these children don't even have, like a washcloth or toothbrushes, and a ball would just be a special thing for them to get and they've never received anything like we have in the United States," Rigg said.

They will be collecting everyday until Monday, November 19, between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
