Stuck right between Black Friday and Cyber Monday was Small Business Saturday. The national shopping holiday first began in 2010 and is meant to encourage shoppers to buy locally.
NewsChannel 5 has featured a few local businesses over the past two weeks leading up to this weekend. Most of the small business that were contacted said that Saturday was a good day. Christine Fitzgerald, owner/operator of the Coffee Cabin, said that she saw an up tick in business on Saturday.
For her and many other local business owners, Small Business Saturday is a way to show that they can provide just as good of a product as the big box stores.
