NEWS RELEASE: Governor Mead's Office

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – First Lady Carol Mead is hosting a Holiday Story Time at the Governor's Residence on Tuesday, December 4th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. Mrs. Mead invites children and their caregivers to attend the event. She will read books to the children, and the first 500 kids will receive a free book courtesy of Scholastic Books' Reading Ambassador Program. There will also be light refreshments and holiday decorations at the Residence.

"I am looking forward to hosting Wyoming children for holiday treats and stories and am thrilled to be able to give them a free book," said Mrs. Mead. Mead is a Reading Ambassador with Scholastic Books. The Scholastic Reading Ambassadors program invites U.S. Governors' Spouses to help reinforce the importance of literacy for all children in their respective states. As part of their commitment to getting kids reading, Scholastic donates 500 books to a school or organization of the First Lady or Gentleman's choice. The Reading Ambassadors come together each summer as part of the Scholastic Summer Challenge to send a powerful message to the students, teachers, and parents in their states about the importance of reading over the summer months.

All children are welcome at the Governor's Residence on December 4th from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. The books to be given away are assorted titles appropriate for ages 2 to 12 years.
