Mitchell Lee Walck, the man wanted by FBI for shooting/kidnapping cases over the weekend, is in custody.
Authorities found Walck in Bismarck, ND. The Bismarck Police Department received a call from a citizen reporting an "unlawful entry into his semi-truck." The person said he left his semi for a time and when he got back there was a man in the sleeper cab. That man, later identified as Walck, pulled a gun on the semi's owner then fled on foot. Bismark Police chased after the suspect for a short time before arresting him and taking him to jail. No injuries were reported.
Walck faces a number of charges. In North Dakota, he faces charges for assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, eluding, and unlawful entry. Those charges may be amended at a later time. Walck was also wanted out of Idaho on a kidnapping warrant.
Police also recovered the vehicle of the 64-year-old woman who was kidnapped by Walck, then let go in Montana.
Reward Offered in Capture of Missing Kidnapping Suspect
The FBI's searching for Mitchell Lee Walck (pictured left) wanted for a shooting incident and kidnapping in Idaho over the weekend. FBI Special Agent in Charge, David J. Johnson of the Salt Lake City Division, has authorized a reward of up to $20,000 in the search Walck.
Walck kidnapped a 62-year-old woman from Rathdrum, ID. The woman was let go unharmed in Gelndive, MT. He was last seen driving the victim's 2005 Subaru Forester, silver in color with an Idaho license plate K230050.
Walck is described as a 57-year-old white male, 5'10", 175 lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. However, Walck recently changed his appearance and was last seen with dyed black hair and a dyed black mustache. He may be driving a 2005 silver Subaru Forester with Idaho plate K230050. He has been known to stop at campgrounds and churches for shelter.
Walck is considered armed and extremely dangerous. He fired at the Idaho State Police trooper with a handgun during an attempted traffic stop on December 1, 2012 and used it to force the woman into his vehicle. He also stole two rifles from the woman's house; one was a 30-30 Winchester rifle and the other was a Mossberg .22 caliber rifle. Do not approach him.
The FBI isn't focusing on a certain state, but has asked for help in several states including Wyoming.
This incident is being investigated by the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office. The earlier pursuit and assault against the ISP officer is being investigated by the Post Falls Police Department through a cooperative agreement.
