Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) December 04, 2012
On December 4, city bikes producer Linus Bike offers applause to the enormous installment of bike lanes across the UK as reported by The Telegraph. A representative of Linus Bike offers support for the safe cycling installations.
The article, published by The Telegraph, reports that in response to 108 cycling deaths within this year alone the country will see a huge investment toward bicycle infrastructure and cycling safety. “It comes against a backdrop of increasing popularity of cycling and alarm at the rise in casualties among cyclists,” the article explains. In addition, the article reports that serious cycling injuries rose 16 percent within the year. “We need substantial investment to make sure more people can cycle more safely,” stated Robert Gifford, executive director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety.
“The huge investment that the Government is making to support cycling safety is an enormous testament to the popularity of bike riding,” comments China Reevers, a representative of city bikes manufacturer Linus Bike. “It’s truly unfortunate that these changes of city and town infrastructure come in response to cycling deaths and injuries. However, the country has taken these tragedies and invested money into an extremely worthy case.” Reevers went on to state, “With hope, the transformation of infrastructure will decrease the amount of cycling deaths and injuries significantly.”
According to the article, “Officials at the Department for Transport will assess bids from councils across the country for a raft of schemes such as dedicated cycle lanes, creation of traffic free routes and junction improvements in towns and cities.” In addition, The Telegraph reports that bids from rail companies will also be examined “for a network of cycle parks at stations, to change commuting patterns and encourage greater use of bikes as part of the daily journey.”
