Last month 30 severely neglected shih tzus were dropped off at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. With a court case pending against their owner, the dogs are still there waiting to be adopted.
Leslie Shelton of Cheyenne gave away Princess last year. She thought the shih tzu was going to an elderly man but instead says she ended up with Linda Curl, the woman accused of neglecting 30 shih tzus.
The shelter says it doesn't know if it has Princess. Because the court case is pending, it's not allowed to let the public see the dogs. It says it would be more than happy to work with Shelton when and if the case is settled.
Curl is scheduled to appear in court next Tuesday. The shelter says if she pleads guilty, it will put the dogs up for adoption. If she pleads innocent, the dogs will stay behind closed doors at the shelter until the case is finally settled.
