Chugwater's lone gas station has gone up in flames.
Horton's Corner store caught fire Sunday evening. According to LaDonna Sands, Chugwater Mayor and Editor for the Prairie Press, a vehicle ran into the building. The driver told authorities they slipped on ice and weren't able to correct or control the car. Sands say you could only see about a third of the car and it too was a total loss.
Although the fire consumed the building, no one was hurt, according to EMTs on scene. Residents have reported a possible death of a dog. That has not been confirmed.
The store, located on 503 Kelly Avenue, is being considered a total loss. It was the only gas station in Chugwater and a place full of many memories for Wyoming residents and people stopping through.
Crews were on scene until late Sunday night. More should be released on Monday. We will update you as more information comes in.
