The Cheyenne Police Department wants to remind citizens that school is back in session next week and that the department will be focusing on traffic enforcement in school zones this month.
Drivers need to be aware of where the school zones are and remain alert for the flashing yellow lights and posted school signs. Additionally, with shortened daylight hours, drivers should turn on their headlights to be more visible.
Also, during inclement weather visibility can decrease and slick roads will require longer stopping distances.
Finally, drivers are required to reduce their speed to 20 MPH in a school zone and yield to pedestrians at crosswalks.
