Tax season is quickly approaching and for those who can't afford to pay a professional to do their taxes, there's help.

Wyoming Free Tax Service offers this service for free to those who earn less than $50,000 in their total family income. They are local IRS certified volunteers that will answer your questions about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). And free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA).

Here are the dates and times you can head out to Laramie County Community College, 1400 E. College Dr., Building 16, Training Room #103 to do this...

  • From January 30th through April 15th:  Mondays and Wednesdays from 5 to 7:30 p.m.
  • From February 2nd through April 13ths: Saturdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

If you qualify, you are asked to bring your ID, income documentation, deductible expenses, and 2011 tax return, if available.

For more information about the VITA program contact United Way of Laramie County at 638-8904. For more information about EITC contact Tom Patras, Internal Revenue Service at 633-0866, or Gene Kasper, Internal Revenue Service at 633-0887.
