On Saturday thousands of demonstrators marched in Washington D.C. to promote gun safety legislation.
Demonstrators traveled from the National Mall to the Washington Monument. The rally was co-sponsored by One Million Moms for Gun Control, which organized about a dozen similar rallies across the country.
People from across the country came to march. They held signs that said " Ban Assault Weapons Now." Participants held signs of victims killed by guns. One sign showed a picture of Ben Wheeler - a six year old victim of the Newtown CT shooting.
The march was led by the mayor of Washington D.C.
Also participating was the U.S. Secretary of Education.
