Barker to Present with Fellow Expert Howard Hastings on IT Asset Management Program Best Practices
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
Express Metrix, a leading provider of IT and software asset management solutions, announced today that co-founder and CEO Kris Barker will speak at the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers (IAITAM) 2013 Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE), which will be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Houston, Texas, April 16–18.
In a session entitled “Capturing and Integrating Asset Procurement Data into Your ITAM Program: Do it Early, Reap Big Benefits,” Barker—alongside his longtime friend and colleague, Howard Hastings, managing partner of Optimal Assets—will discuss methods and rationales for capturing and leveraging IT procurement data early in an IT asset management (ITAM) program and how to maximize the potential benefits from such processes. The session will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
“The best way to manage IT assets is to start at the time you purchase the software,” said Barker. “If you implement processes to capture and use procurement information at a very early stage, those processes will have a very positive effect on the overall value of end-to-end ITAM programs, particularly with respect to analysis of asset discovery and identification information, software license compliance, change management, and asset retirement. It’s a far more cost-effective approach than trying to piece together a picture of your IT assets further downstream, when information is likely to be scattered about in spreadsheets, file cabinets or even the local landfill.”
This year’s conference will cover topics such as asset tagging, discovery and compliance trends, lifecycle management and the tool selection process. Attendees will also hear about IT asset management best practices, case studies, standards, licensing and other how-to information suited to all experience levels.
The IAITAM ACE is a three-day conference where IT, finance/procurement, and legal professionals gather to learn about guiding principles for IT asset management (ITAM), and how thoughtful implementation of ITAM best practices can significantly affect business operations and profitability. IAITAM’s 2012 conference attracted more than 1,000 CIOs, VPs of IT, corporate IT asset managers, and senior executives from organizations ranging from mid-sized firms to Fortune 500 companies, as well as public sector agencies.
