The effort is an attempt to be fair to people who undergo background checks.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 27, 2013
Probation.us.org will now make appeals records available as part of their public records search service, company officials said yesterday.
“We've had some cases where people contacted us because their conviction report was included in a document search, even though their conviction had been overturned on appeal,” a company representative said. “We looked into it and found that appeals records are public information, so it seems fair to include them in our background reports.”
Customers use Probation.us.org to look into the background of or to learn about someone they have met on an online dating site before they agree to a first date, the company said.
“If someone was wrongfully accused and wrongfully convicted, that shouldn't haunt their records forever,” the representative said. “We want our customers to get an accurate picture of the person they are looking up. More court records mean a more accurate background search.”
The new records have already been uploaded to the system and are available now. If someone has recently won an appeal, the company is willing to add that information to their background report.
“If they call us, our customer service representatives will show them how to make sure their appeal pops up in any background check we perform,” the representative said. “It's just the right thing to do.”
Probation.us.org is the top resource for probation records on the Web. Learn more about the people associated with any probation record. When available, reports include first and last names, locations, offenses, case numbers and more.
