Cheyenne VA Hosts Art Show

Posted: Updated:

There's a new art exhibit in Cheyenne but this one's not at a museum or gallery. It's at the VA Medical Center and features the work of our military veterans.

It's a labor of love. Floyd Smith says it took him weeks to make his Christmas center piece. "I just enjoy doing it. It keeps my hands busy too" he explains.

He's one of about 30 veterans to submit artwork.

David Purdy submitted his bike, the "Green Monster." "It's a form of expression. I put my heart and soul into it" he says.

Dana Grange submitted several photos.

"It's just a chance for them to bring what they've been working on at home and show it off to other folks and hopefully encourage more veterans to use art as self expression" says Kristi Ruben, show organizer.

Self expression, that goes beyond the show and this realm.

"I'll keep doing it until the good Lord says come on home. And I'll get up there and he'll probably have a table all set up for me to do my crafts" says Smith.

The exhibit is open to the public Tuesday from 10 AM to 3 PM.
