Okie Blanchard Stadium To Be Demolished

On Monday Cheyenne's City Council voted unanimously to demolish Okie Blanchard Stadium.

Over the years, Okie Blanchard is where hundreds of games have been played and where even more memories have been made.

The stadium is home to the East High Thunderbirds. However, the Central High Indians also used to play in it.

"It's very sentimental to a lot of people in our community" says Jerry Schlabs, East High Athletic Director.

From the field to the locker rooms, Schlabs says it's "falling apart."

A new stadium will be built next to Okie Blanchard. Laramie County School District One says it hopes to break ground this summer.

As for Okie Blanchard, demolition is planned for summer of 2014.
