University of Wyoming senior forward Leonard Washington was named to the All-Mountain West Third Team and All-Defensive Team, as the conference office announced the awards Monday. Washington is the ninth Cowboy to earn multiple All-MW honors during his career, which are voted on by the league's head coaches and media.
A Second Team honoree last season, Washington has continued to pace the Pokes in 2012-13. He averages team highs of 13.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.3 steals. He ranks second in the MW with 12 double-doubles on the season, including six during conference play and four straight at one point. He is the first Poke to post four-straight double-doubles since Justin Williams in 2005-06. Washington ranks in the top 10 of four MW statistical categories this season during league action, including leading the MW in steals at 1.6 per game and second in defensive rebounds at 7.1. He is the first Cowboy to earn back-to-back All-MW honors since Desmar Jackson was named to the Third Team in 2009-10 and was Honorable Mention in 2010-11.
