University of Wyoming men's and women's divers finished the second day of diving action at the NCAA Zone "E" Diving Championships on Friday, at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"We worked hard today and I know we out prepared everyone, but sometimes things click and sometimes they do not, today was just a day when not everything clicked," Wyoming diving coach Yahya Radman said. "Both the guys and the girls had some great opportunities, but we just could not take advantage of them. We did a fine job just not fine enough."
In the men's 3-meter springboard competition, freshman Eric McMillin finished the highest of any UW competitor finishing one place out of the finals in 19th with a score of 277.50. Also for the Cowboys, junior Derek Campbell finished the day in 24th place with a final tally of 266.10.
On the women's side in the 1-meter competition, junior Amanda Fay finished in 31st place with a final mark of 236.70. Senior Sasha Andrie finished the day in 35th place with a final tally of 228.40.
The Zone "E" Championships will come to a close on Saturday with both the men's and women's platform dive. The women's platform will get underway with the preliminaries at 11 a.m. followed by the finals at 12:30 p.m. The men's competition will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the finals taking place at 5 p.m.
"I know they kids will step it up tomorrow and we will keep working toward our goals of improving every day," Radman said.
