NEWS RELEASE: Rocky Mountain Power Foundation
(WASHINGTON, D.C. April 2, 2013) The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans is honored to announce the winners of the Horatio Alger Wyoming Scholarship. These scholarships are made possible with generous support from the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation. These Horatio Alger state scholarship recipients have been chosen based on their demonstrated commitment to education, dedication to community service, and strength of character in overcoming personal obstacles to achieve academic excellence.
"It is a privilege to play a part in these young people's college education," said Tony Novelly, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Horatio Alger Association. "They have already shown perseverance and courage in the face of adversity, and with opportunities made available through higher education and our free-enterprise system, there is no limit to the things they may achieve."
Each scholar will receive $5,000 that will go toward their college tuition, fees, books, on-campus room and board and other education-related expenses. In addition to the scholarship, the students will receive:
The Horatio Alger Association's scholarship programs are funded by its Members, friends of the organization, and other foundations. Since 1987, the Association has provided $1,048,000 in scholarships to high school seniors from Wyoming.

Founded in 1947, the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans celebrates those individuals in our society whose determination and hard work have enabled them to overcome life's obstacles to achieve success. As a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, the Association provides college scholarships and mentorship to at-risk students who demonstrate courage in the face of adversity and dedication to pursuing higher education.
