Just three years ago the NCAR-Wyoming Super-Computing Center was a hole in the ground. Now, its getting an award for its design and efficiency.
The center took top honors in the prestigious 2013 Green Enterprise IT awards for the 'Facility Design Implementation' category.
The award was given by the Uptime Institute, an international organization that recognizes cutting-edge data center projects displaying energy and resource efficiency.
Along with using sustainable materials in its construction, the computing center utilizes state-of-the-art technologies to control its overall environmental footprint.
NCAR will receive the award in may during the *uptime institutes* annual symposium.
