Cheyenne's City Council will meet Monday night. One item on its agenda is the safety of East Pershing Boulevard.
East Pershing is undoubtedly a busy road. "It's a mess. You can't get across" says Connie Cook, a clerk at Hoy's Drug. "Last year we had a customer who got hit. It was a hit and run."
Pete Laybourn lives in the area. He says after seeing two young kids almost get hit crossing East Pershing he wanted to do something.
Laybourn's teaming up with the Mayor's Council for People with Disabilities. They want a crosswalk with flashing lights put at the intersection of East Pershing and Dunn Avenue.
Cook's all for the crosswalk. She doesn't want another one of her customers to get hit trying to cross.
Both Cook and Laybourn say they'll be at the meeting. They're hoping City Council will approve funding for a study of East Pershing as a first step in the project.
Laybourn says the study would cost between $8,000 and $10,000.
