Honor. Respect. Remember.
The Chamber Military Affairs Committee is honored to bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute (AVTT) to Cheyenne at Lions Park June 20-23. AVTT's ‘Cost of Freedom Tribute' is a mobile group of memorials and exhibits anchored by an 80% replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall and a Gold Dog Tag Display of all casualties in the Global War on Terror. Individual displays for every conflict our military has been involved in are included. Memorials for first responders and law enforcement round out this outstanding exhibit. These displays honor all those who have served while paying specific tribute to those who gave all in their service.
Wyoming Governor Matt Mead and Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen will open the exhibit with remarks at 6 PM Thursday, June 20th. The opening ceremony will include laying of POW/ MIA and Gold Star Mothers wreaths, Posting of Colors, the LCCC Singers, blessing of the wall, and playing of taps and bagpiper.
According to ‘Cost of Freedom' committee chairman Bruce Brady, the display will be open 24 hours per day and will feature a continuous reading of the names of those on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Other presentations including statewide, community, military, and veteran leaders will be featured at other times during the three day presentation culminating in a closing ceremony with Wyoming's U.S. Representative Cynthia Lummis at 12:30 PM Sunday, June 23.
MAC Executive Committee Chairman Jim Wood would like to thank the MAC team and the scores of volunteers from veteran's groups, active duty and Guard members who are helping to make this 4 day event happen. (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
This is an opportunity for the Cheyenne area community to view these special memorials and learn more about the people who serve our great nation. Please take the time to join us and honor those who have kept us safe and free.
