Cheyenne Post 6 needed a victory against Waipahu Post 56, Hawaii for a shot at the Legion World Series.
After a slow start and an early Hawaii 3-0 lead Post 6 finally got the bats going in the bottom of the fourth. Isaac Taylor and Dixon Maggard scored, making it a 3-2 Hawaii lead.
That was the score until the top of the seventh when Post 56 put up a couple more runs for a 5-2 lead.
In the bottom of the inning Greg Ashley lead things off with a double and advanced to third on a Logan Followell ground out.
Brock Anderson grounded out next but Ashley scored, 5-3 Post 56.
Consecutive two out doubles from Tracy Callahan and Cameron Johnson put another run across the plate and a Maggard single scored Johnson.
Brian Lopez grounded out, but after the 7th inning the score was tied 5-5.
A Followell sac fly scored Lopez and Post 6 lead for the first time in the game 6-5.
Post 56 scored three in the top of the 9th and Post 6 could not recover.
The team scored one in the bottom of the 9th but Isaac Block hit into a double play that ended the game and the season for Post 6.
Post 56 won 8-7.
Cameron Johnson was 3-4 with a 2B, one RBI, and a run.
Isaac Taylor was also 3-4 with a 2B, one RBI and a run scored.
Charlie O'Grady pitched 3 innings giving up two hits and two runs, none earned.
Post 56 pitcher Tokunaga went 7 innings striking out 6 giving up 9 hits and 5 earned runs.
Cheyenne Post 6 is the 2013 Wyoming Legion Champion.
