Cheyenne Regional would like to welcome Dr. Cara L. Johnson, a geriatrician who specializes in caring for the elderly.
"As a Wyoming native, I witnessed firsthand the need for more primary care providers in the state," she says. "This was especially apparent when I was working as a home health aide. I saw that many of my elderly patients did not have access to the care they needed. This experience motivated me to work towards becoming a physician."
Cheyenne Regional's patient-focused philosophy aligns with her style of practicing medicine. "I witnessed this when I gave birth to my son. He had to stay in the nursery at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for three weeks. Everyone from the physicians to the therapists and social workers focused on taking great care of my entire family," she says. "It's an amazing place to receive care."
Dr. Johnson grew up in Laramie, Wyoming, and is excited to practice medicine near her hometown. "There is a great sense of community in Cheyenne. I also love how there is always something to do—from the parks and greenway to shopping to entertainment, including the symphony and weekend activities at the Cheyenne Depot."
Dr. Johnson is married and has a two-year-old son. Her family likes to travel, visit museums and aquariums and enjoys star-gazing. They look forward to doing more fishing.
