RADWIN systems enable 24/7 monitoring & control of mining site to enhance worker safety
TEL AVIV, Israel, September 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
RADWIN (http://www.radwin.com), the global provider of sub-6 GHz broadband wireless solutions, today announced that it's been chosen to establish a video surveillance network for a large manganese mine in Kuruman, South Africa. Miro Distribution, RADWIN's partner and one of South Africa's leading distributors, provided technical expertise, and the installation was carried out by specialist company I3S Security Solutions.
Jaco Malan, Miro Distribution's Managing Director: "Currently over 150 cameras are installed in the manganese mine area, with more being added on a regular basis. The video cameras cover all areas of the mine - from the construction village, to the shaft, to the entry turnstiles, and everything in between. RADWIN's systems deliver the highest resolution video from the various sites back to the control center in real-time, which is invaluable for monitoring the mine and securing the safety of its personnel."
John Gerber, Shareholder, I3S Security: "We chose the RADWIN 2000 point-to-point and RADWIN 5000 point-to-multipoint solutions for video surveillance transmission because the quality of RADWIN's wireless products met the mining company's exacting requirements. RADWIN's wireless network covers 12 square kilometers, allowing us to effectively utilize the camera network as well as provide infrastructure for the access control system."
Peter Turvey, RADWIN General Manager - Middle East, South & East Africa: "Safety and security is of paramount importance in mines. Downtime can result in loss of reputation, loss of revenue and in the worst case, loss of life. We are extremely proud that our solutions have met the mine's extremely stringent technical as well as performance requirements. Our systems were selected for this project because they are perfectly suited for outdoor environments and ensure superior video quality transmission in the most challenging conditions."
RADWIN 5000 point-to-multipoint and RADWIN 2000 point-to-point solutions deliver over 250 and 200 Mbps respectively for long ranges and incorporate advanced technologies such as OFDM, MIMO and a unique air interface to mitigate interference and enable NLOS deployments.
