Every day, 1.7 million square feet of green building space is awarded LEED certification. LEED touches us all, whether through the office building where we work, the school our children attend, the hospital or healthcare facility we visit or even the home we live in: the U.S. Green Building Council estimates that 4.3 million people live and work in LEED-certified buildings, and 6.2 million people enter a LEED-certified building every day.
LEED is the world's most widely used green building program and next month in Philadelphia, 30,000 people from the green building movement will gather for the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. Brought to you by the U.S. Green Building Council, the creators of LEED, and Hanleywood, Greenbuild is the largest conference and expo dedicated to green building. Greenbuild was launched in 2002 in response to the significant growth of LEED and green construction practices. This year at the conference, USGBC will debut the newest version of LEED.
