Connect With Me

Christy Waite joined the CBS Newschannel 5 sports team October 2017 as an MMJ/Sports Anchor.

It was at an early age that Christy knew she wanted to become a sports reporter. Growing up she excelled in athletics and played almost every sport at some point. She played volleyball, ran track and cross country, gymnastics, and competitive figure skating to name a few.

Christy graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism while working at her college station KENW. In Albuquerque she interned with KOAT’s sports department and with ESPN Radio. After graduating college Christy stayed in Albuquerque where she worked at KOB as a Sports Reporter/Anchor for two years. She then joined a freelance network show and had her own sports segment where she continued to cover the Mountain West and high school sports.

In 2015 Christy was crowned Miss New Mexico and represented her state at the national pageant. After a full year of service to her community, Christy decided to compete in body building competitions and she is a 4-time national qualifying competitor.

In her free time, you will find Christy at the gym, being adventurous outdoors, and eating Sourpatch kids. But her favorite thing in the world is Alabama football because that’s where she was born! Roll Tide!
