CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) Another Friday night means another night of live music in Cheyenne brought to the community by a group of volunteers. For the first time in the eight years of the concert series, an EDM and psychedelic funk rock band performed.

“The reason we do what we do on a volunteer basis is truly we’re a group of people that believe in what Cheyenne can be and what Cheyenne is right now and I think it’s a really special community hub in addition to being a really killer music series with a lot of regional and nationally touring music,” said Mike Morris, Vice President of Arts Cheyenne.

The group that performed on March 8 is The Jauntee and have toured 36 different states with members from Boston and Denver. The hope of the weekly concert series is to bring artists from all different genres to the community.

“It’s really a community arts and music initiative, it pertains to more than just music and arts, it pertains to economic development, it pertains to really bringing people out and providing sort of a facet to the community that in the winter time is sort of hard to come by sometimes,” said Morris.

The Asher Series will continue next Friday, March 15 with the Kayla Marque Band and Kid Astronaut with India Patrice. The show will begin at 7 p.m. at the Asher Building, located at 500 W. 15th St. Admission is $5.00 and the show is open to all ages.
