CHEYENNE, Wyo - Laramie County School District One has some early release and no school days coming up in March and April. During these days, the Club is open extended hours and our rate is $5 per day. On early release days, the Club will be open from 11-6 and on no school days, the Club will be open from 7:30 am – 6pm with lots of great activities to do. During the no school days, the club feeds the kids breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.

During the summer the Club is open from 7:30-6 in the summer and we still feed the kids three times a day. Our summer program starts on June 11 and runs for 10 weeks. The summer activities are a little different as we have flag football and a program to help kids up on their reading and math skills. The kids have been really enjoying the Summer Brain Gain activities. We have a great 12 acres facility that we use plus we go on some field trips. Parents can sign up their kids now for the summer program. The all-day summer program has a camp fee of $1055 for the full 10 weeks of summer if paid before May 1. The club also accepts DFS Child Care Assistance and have some TANF funds to help income qualified families.

As an example, last week the club hosted the 8 state regional art and photography show. The club had a regional winner in photography and one in fine art. They also had our State Youth of the Year event where Michael Martinez-Montano received the Wyoming School Board Association scholarship. And two of the Club kids, Dylan Miller and Romello Wallace received the new Great Futures Gold Standard scholarship to the University of Wyoming for four years of tuition and fees. All of these scholarships require 2 years of Club membership for the teens. So now is a great time to get those teens signed up so they have a chance to compete. The club is taking teen memberships at our LCCC senior high site.

The Club is still running the home school program for youth which is open on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 2-3 for Art, STEM and physical education for the home school youth. We are still taking membership for this program.

If you are looking to help the Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne they are hosting on an event on March 20 at 6:30 pm, the community can come out to learn about a variety of ways they can help the Club. This will be a fun event put on by Thrivent called Action Tank, similar to the show Shark Tank. There is no cost to attend, but people are encouraged to rsvp at 778-3076 and they can come on out to the Club at 515 West Jefferson Road on March 20.
