CPD investigating travel agency for defrauding customers

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - The Cheyenne Police Department is investigating Top Travel, a local travel agency, in regards to defrauding customers.

Police said the business was operating at a storefront in Frontier Mall from August of 2018 through December of 2018. Police also said at one time, Top Travel conducted business under the name of “The Outdoor Pursuit” in Cheyenne's old airport terminal.

CPD said Several Top Travel customers reported they paid for trips booked through the company only to find those trips were cancelled without their knowledge and without a refund.

On January 10th, CBS NewsChannel 5 visited the Top Travel store front inside the Frontier Mall, and found the doors locked and the lights out. Signs advertising Caribbean cruises and resort vacations were still hanging.

A search of the Business Division on the Wyoming Secretary of State's website shows "The Outdoor Pursuit" was dissolved in June of 2018. At that time, the company was delinquent in its tax filings.

CPD is encouraging anyone who has recently done business with Top Travel to check on their travel reservations directly by contacting the hotels and airlines they are booked with and ensuring their reservations are still in place.

If you believe you’re a victim of this fraud, contact the Cheyenne PD at 307-637-6525 to initiate a report. This case remains under investigation by the Cheyenne Police Department.
