CHEYENNE, Wyo Charlie v Goliath is a feature-length documentary about an ordinary man’s extraordinary struggle to shake up the political establishment. This movie debuted in Los Angeles and is now debuting in Wyoming, where it was filmed.
The film is about Charlie Hardy who decides to run for office him¬self in 2014 and he manages to win the Democratic Party’s nomination for the US Senate.
Charlie’s advisors urge him to focus his efforts on fundraising. Instead, Charlie rejects money from special interests and makes campaign finance reform a key part of his platform.
The film provides an intimate portrayal of this resolute and uniquely charismatic septuagenarian while revealing an inside look at a campaign fueled by hope rather than money.
Charlie v Goliath is not only one of the only character-driven films in recent years to take on the issue of money’s corrupting influence over US politics. At its heart, the documentary is a story about the power of hope even when all seems lost and the importance of optimism no matter how bleak the circumstances.
The premier is sponsored by Wyoming Promise a grass-roots organization that is trying to get an amendment on the 2018 ballot to keep big money out of politics.
If you are interested in seeing Charlie vs Goliath the premier will be held at the Lincoln theatre December 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm, tickets are $10 at the door.
