Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities shows off giant pumpkin

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Good Grief! The Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities has a great pumpkin that even Linus would be impressed with.

Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities 675 lbs pumpkin

Right now, BOPU has a pumpkin called “Tow Mater” located in their front lobby that weighs more than a quarter-ton.

A Board employee began growing the Atlantic Giant Pumpkin from a tiny seed back in April. Well, it’s grown a bit and is now weighing in at a whopping 675 pounds! It took 7-8 people to help carried it in and place it on a drop cloth so they can move it around.

France Stinchcomb says he's being doing this for about 20 years now.

"I started in my house in April," said Stinchcomb, "and i put it under an enclosure and heat it for about a month until there's not more frost and then i start growing it."

You can swing by and check it out at the BOPU office at 2416 Snyder Ave., but you’d better hurry because it’ll only be there until Friday, October 6th, sincerely.
