CHEYENNE, Wyo.- You may have noticed several Cheyenne residents deciding to put down the keys of their vehicle and get on the back of a bicycle during the last week of June. Many are taking advantage of Cheyenne Bike Week and the fun activities that have helped celebrate it.
Blue Federal Credit Union has continued to put on their annual Bicycle Poker Run where participants get a chance to win $1,000 to Rock on Wheels in Cheyenne. They've been riding their bikes and picking up stamps from participating business locations around town to collect the best "poker hand." The best hand will be awarded the prize.
In addition, they kicked off Wednesday, June 28 with a Bike to Work Day where bikers could get a free continental breakfast and a chance to win a FitBit Charge.
The fun continued at the Bikes, Brats and Beers event in front of Freedom's Edge Brewing Company Wednesday night. Many who turned out and road their bikes were offered a free beer and a brat. Families enjoyed live music and games.
Michelle Bolkovatz from Blue Federal Credit Union says Bike Cheyenne Week has been an exciting event- helping get people outside, exercising and enjoying our downtown.
Residents still say Cheyenne could use some improvements when it comes to our biking community. Matt Bilodeau from Rock on Wheels says people have definitely been taking advantage of the Re-Ride Bike Share program, but he would like to see more bicyclists and and bike lanes on roads.
