Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr now taking applications for Housing & Community Development Advisory Council

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr is seeking applications for appointments to the Cheyenne Housing & Community Development Advisory Council.

There are two vacancies. One appointee will fill an un-expired term ending December 31, 2018 and the other will fill a full, two-year term. The appointments are made by the mayor and confirmed by City Council. The Advisory Council meets the first Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m.

The nine-member Housing & Community Development Advisory Council is comprised of volunteers to include those that have benefited from the program in terms of previous involvement in receipt of services; strong minority and female headed household; persons knowledgeable about housing development, construction or management; and a strong business background.

The Advisory Council’s primary role is to serve as a liaison between the H&CD office and community residents in receiving input on very low, low, and moderate-income needs and between the Cheyenne City Council and community resident to express identified needs. During the H&CD office grant cycle, the Advisory Council oversees the grant process and makes recommendations to the City Council for funding. In addition, the Advisory Council conducts site visits and evaluations on sub-grantees throughout the year.

All applications must be submitted directly to the Mayor’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017.
