CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - Dietitians from the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center held a meeting open to the public on ways to live a healthier lifestyle. Some of the topics that were discussed at this meeting ranged from changing eating habits, to adapting healthy mindfulness. Everyday exercise practices were discussed at the meeting as well.
"We want to just remind everyone just to get back to the basics," Clinical nutrition manager, Leisann Paglia said.
One way to live a healthier lifestyle is to avoid fad diets. Results of fad diet participation may include: metabolism slow down, and a decrease in physical/emotional energy. Dietitians recommend to eat food, but lower the sugar, sodium, and saturated fat intake, and to increase fiber.
In terms of mindfulness, be aware of what you're eating, and your eating pattern. Make sure to eat when hungry, and stop when full. Don't let emotions dictate when to eat.
Part-taking in physical activity is encouraged, in order to live a healthy lifestyle. Having alternatives such as taking the stairs instead of using an elevator, parking further from your destination so you'll walk for a longer period of time are all practices on enhancing physical activity.
