Flu in Schools

It’s a new year and that means a new flu season.
Schools all around Laramie County District 1 began seeing some flu cases back in December, but as peak flu season hits many more are feeling its sting.
“Right now there is no pattern. One school may get hit exceptionally hard for a couple of days and then kinda back off and another will kinda pick up” said Laramie County District 1 head nurse Janet Farmer.
It’s not too late to prevent your family from getting the flu.
Washing your hands often, covering your cough, minimize how much food and drink you share, and getting the flu shot are all great ways to protect your family.
If your child is experiencing a fever of any flu like symptoms, experts say the best thing you can do is keep them home from school until the fever has cleared.
