Fort Collins searches for new Police Chief

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (RELEASE) — The City of Fort Collins is in the process of hiring a new Police Chief.

The City is working with Ralph Andersen & Associates on candidate review and has narrowed its search to a pool of very qualified candidates. Citizen input via listening sessions with City Manager Darin Atteberry and an online questionnaire has been integrated into the selection process.

Work continues to confirm details and invite finalists in for interviews. Finding the right Chief is a priority for Council and Atteberry, and thus they do not want to rush the process.

“As you know, I am deeply committed to hiring a Chief who brings the necessary knowledge, skills and experience as well as the appropriate attributes required to successfully address the needs of this community and the Police Services,” Atteberry said. “I simply cannot overemphasize the importance of this process.”

Interviews are tentatively slated for late October. The City nationwide search for a new chief follows the resignation of former Police Chief John Hutto on May 12. Retired Aurora Police Chief Terry Jones is currently serving as the interim chief.
