Laramie man arrested, charged with 7 counts of arson

LARAMIE, Wyo. (KGWN) An investigation into 7 suspicious fires leads to the arrest of a Laramie Man.

The Laramie Police Department said between September 4, 2018 and January 14, 2019, officers and detectives investigated seven suspicious fires in the Laramie area.

22-year-old Samuel J.Pennington is now in custody and charged with seven counts of 3rd Degree Arson. Bond is still pending, and Pennington remains in the Albany County Detention Center.

Someone is guilty of third-degree arson if they intentionally start a fire or cause an explosion and intentionally, recklessly or with criminal negligence destroys or damages any property of another which has a value of two hundred dollars ($200.00) or more.

Third-degree arson is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than five years, a fine of not more than $5,000.00, or both.
