Cheyenne, Wyo. - Halloween is nearly upon us, and a local artist is showing some examples of how you can paint yourself up, instead of buying a costume.
Cheyenne resident Sandie Whitman is the owner/artist behind started Funky Mugs Face Painting. She’s been painting faces for years and says she loves the art of transformation and the look on people’s faces when they see themselves after a painting session is finished.
Sandie says this is a passion for her that is reignited every time someone’s creativity challenges her, whether it’s a sugar skull look, little rainbow doggies or tigers with bunny teeth that roar.
Here’s a few tips that you can try at home when doing face painting:
-Take your time
-There’s no rules do what you want
-Be patient when working with kids
-Sometimes simpler is better
-You can use regular makeup or specific Halloween style make up
-Cheap craft brushes are often the best
-Use a bit of powder if you’re using cream makeup so it doesn’t smear afterwards when you’re having fun
-Give yourself an hour or so to do a fantastic job
-Find inspiration from those elements around you
-Animals are easy to do because many of us have a reference at home with us
