CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - During the blizzard this week, water and sewer services kept working because of the City of Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities’ (Board) employees.
Two water treatment operators, Scott Miller and John Hurley, sheltered in place and dealt with power outages at the Sherdard Water Treatment Plant for 24-hours to ensure Cheyenne’s drinking water continued to be safe.
Meanwhile, two operation and maintenance workers, Chris Russell and Chris Martinez, responded to a sewer emergency and battled the outside elements for 2 ½ hours to ensure sewer mains were operating correctly.
On the way back to the Board’s headquarters, Chris Russell even pulled a stuck ambulance out of the snow.
The Board’s Water Reclamation staff was able to keep a normal 24-hour schedule despite the weather. “Between power outages, blizzard conditions and assisting others, our committed employees did a great job serving our community 24 hours a day with services regardless of severe weather conditions,” said the Board’s Director, Brad Brooks.
