New mural projects in the works downtown

CHEYENNE, Wyo.- You may have seen some mural projects popping up downtown. The Downtown Development Authority has started two new projects.

It's an extension of last fall's Mural Project behind the Plains Hotel. There was about $6,000 in funds left over from that project. One mural is going in the alleyway between Sanford's and the Loft and will be comic booked theme. Another mural is going above Marv's Pawn Shop.

The artist of the mural above Marv's, Tyler Scott, says the complete mural will be of a Native American face blowing wind through Wyoming nature and a train will be coming out of a valley, symbolizing the Depot in Cheyenne. As for working on top of the building he says, "It's a little scary, but at the same time it's fun. It's been exciting and fun doing something different that what I normally do."

Desiree Brothe with the DDA says, "Because it's such a prominent wall, we really wanted something in that location. It's really going to be a great showcase piece for people as they're coming down Lincolnway into town."

Scott says he is expecting to complete the mural in about a week and a half. He also painted the mural on the back of Ernie November.
