CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) -- The American Legion is celebrating its 100th Anniversary on March 15, 2019. The Legion held its first caucus in 1919 on March 15th in Paris.
The Department Adjutant in Wyoming, Lee Buchschacher said, I think most of us like being a part of something bigger than they are. The American Legion is certainly that." He also spent time reflecting on the Legion's role in writing and helping to pass the G.I. Bill. He said, It was the most radical social legislation ever passed by this country. It actually changed the face of America. A generation of GI's got to go to college."
In Cheyenne, the Department of Wyoming Headquarters for the Legion held a small bash to celebrate, but there are plenty of other celebrations going on in the state. For more information on those events, go to wyolegion.net.
