Verizon challenging youth to create apps

CHEYENNE, Wy.(KGWN)- Verizon is challenging students to use technology and creativity to solve a problem in their school or community. The company hopes the initiative will transform your students from technology users to creators.

Teams submit an idea for an app that would be used to make the problem better. An important thing to note is, no coding is required for this competition. The submission only has to be an idea for the technology.

The competition will award prizes at the state and national level. Prizes include $5,000 dollars and tablets for the school. Past winners have been invited to the White House Science Fair and some have even gone on to sell their app idea.

Teams must be middle and high school students. Non-profit organizations are also able to form a team.
