CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - Discussion on a new roundabout in the Capital City continues. The roundabout would be at Prairie Avenue and Frontier Mall Drive on the north side of town.
A council work session was held on Thursday afternoon to give engineering a direction for design on the roundabout. A study done a couple of years ago showed crashes and design problems at the intersection and the recommendation was a single lane roundabout.
Engineering has been working on the design, and it's about 95% complete. Discussion Thursday was on how to finish the design. Now that a decision has been made, engineering will continue on finishing the design, putting out requests for proposals, and starting construction.
The design is being completed as a free right hand turn, which mean two lanes would lead up to the single lane roundabout. The right lane must turn right. Construction is expected to start next construction season, meaning the spring.
