Laramie, Wyo. - Four days after turning over the ball 19 times, Cowgirls clean up their game and capitalize off Montana State's 16 turnovers to beat MSU 66-58.
Cowgirls had 11 turnovers on the night but only allowed two points off of the mistakes. Montana State had 16 turnovers and Wyoming capitalized on the opportunities and scored 26 points.
Cowgirls leading scorer, senior Marta Gomez led the team with 27 points in the win on Tuesday night in Arena Auditorium.
It was an evenly matched game in the first quarter as Wyoming and Montana State grabbed 10 rebounds each. Cowgirls had the edge from the three-point line with 4-of-9 shooting from behind the arc.
At the half, Wyoming led Montana State 27-20, but MSU looked strong in the 3rd quarter on 9-of-15 shooting from the field.
But Wyoming pulled away in the fourth with help from Gomez, who finished the night on 9-of-19 shotting from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line.
