Easts' cross country record holder inks with OSU

Cheyenne, Wyo.- East senior, Mackenzie Marler, signed her national letter of intent Wednesday to join Oklahoma State's cross country and track program.

Marler has broken her own cross country records each season, and set the school record in the 1600 meter race in both indoor and outdoor track.

"I just think it's the people around me. Everyone just uplifts me and I just think that everyone has helped me get to where I am today," said Marler.

The senior says she inked with Oklahoma State, a Division I program, because of the similarities between her current and future coach.

"The assistance coach [at OSU] is just like our assistant coach here, Becky. They're just really quirky and make you feel really calm and excited all the time," Marler said.

Oklahoma State competes in the Big 12 conference.
