Wyoming football names Jake Dickert defensive coordinator, and AJ Cooper defensive run-game coordinator

LARAMIE, Wyo.- Coach Bohl announced the promotions of coaches Jake Dickert and AJ Cooper. Dickert has been promoted to Defensive Coordinator, and Cooper has been promoted to Defensive Run-Game coordinator.

Dickert coached the safeties for the past two seasons, including two-time First Team All-Mountain West selection, Andrew Wingard, and three-time captain, Marcus Epps. He was also a defensive coordinator at Augustana in 2013, and Minnesota State-Mankato in 2014-2015, where he led them to the NCAA Division II playoffs both years, and the National Championship in 2015. Dickert also coached with Bohl at North Dakota State, from 2008-10, including an FCS Quarterfinal appearance in 2010.

Cooper coached the Cowboys for the past five seasons. He also coached with Bohl at North Dakota State from 2006-2013, winning the FCS National Championship in his last three seasons, coaching the Bison.

Last season, Dickert and Cooper coached the Cowboys where they ranked nationally, in multiple categories. Wyoming ranked No. 19 in total defense (326. 2 ypg), 25th in rush defense (129.5 ypg), 28th in scoring (22.0 ppg), and 32nd in pass defense (196.7 ypg).
